Funny business quotes

We usually talk about business like it’s the most serious thing in the world. But, in all its seriousness, business can also be funny - that is if you give it a chance.

In today’s article, I’ve prepared a few funny business quotes along with the descriptions. Treat this read like a little reminder telling you to smile while you work hard on your goals. Enjoy!

Why join the navy if you can be a pirate? Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs probably meant that why he should be in Microsoft when he can build his own thing, rein his creativity free, without some sort of boundaries. Being in a navy is like being in a corporation when you follow certain rules to meet expectation of people more important than you.

When you’re a pirate you drift in any direction you want, you improvise and you have fun while doing it. You’re not involved with an organization that hinders self–expression. You can express uncommon ideas, improvise, be daring and earn in your own way. Who didn’t like pirates as a young kids?

The problem with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat. Lilly Tomlin

This one refers to the slogans in our heads: “work harder”, “earn more money”, “buy more things”, “keep going because happiness is just around the corner.” That’s a meaningless pursuit of money and it doesn’t bring the actual happiness.

I guess that the rat race concerns a lot of people, who are motivated by their companies to compete with each other instead of supporting each other towards one goal. I explained it in the Teamwork Quotes that Make Your Team Really Work Together.

As you may already know from my bio, I believe I’m my biggest competition. I think we can learn from people who are better than us but at the end of the day we should try to be better than we were yesterday.

As we get to the point we established, this kind of success tastes great. You had to work really hard for it, but as we all know…

The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. Vidal Sassoon

Yes, that’s right. You won’t achieve any kind of success without a lot of work and a some sacrifice. The true success has always a foundation in a devotion to work (Check out Success Quotes to Keep You Moving Closer to Your Goals).

Sometimes when we see somebody who is successful, which means they have a great business in this case, we think the success magically happened overnight. The idea was great, the right people were involved etc. Well, these are also important factors.

But what we don’t see are the hours of thinking, planning and working. We are also not aware of the sacrifices each person has to make (mostly in private life) to achieve what they did. We’re quickly jumping to conclusions, assuming that everything is easy for others, instead of being more interested in their story. And that brings me to the next quote.

There’s no secret about success. Did you ever know a successful man who didn’t tell you about it. Kin Hubbard

Sooner or later, successful people will share their secrets. Who doesn’t like to talk about their achievements? They give interviews, write blogs, share their knowledge in social media sites or publish books with the phrase “my story” somewhere in the title. We can learn from them.

We can also find online tons of inspirational business stories and how their road to the top looked like. We can find out what didn’t work for them, how to improve it and try it in our case.

So find the people who succeed in what you do and copy their actions. Eventually you will get to their level. And then…

Hustle until your haters ask if you’re hiring. Steve Maraboli

I first heard this expression from Gary Vaynerchuck. According to him hustling is putting all of your effort into achieving the goal. Are you willing to work to get your business to the top, or to give your customers extraordinary experience?

We all have the opportunity to bring value to people but we need to put out our great work and hustle. Yet, whenever you are facing a hard time and you doubt in yourself, remember…

Do not underestimate your abilities. That is your boss’s job.Source

Ok, let’s tease our bosses a little. You sometimes don’t have the energy to hustle and you stop believing in yourself? Pointless. Leave it to your boss. He or she will see your flaws and imperfections. They know what you have to work on more. And they are the first to remind you about it. Why bother then?

Note: this is just a generalization for the sake of this quote. I’m sure there’re plenty of bosses who do nothing but believing in their employees and motivating them. But where’s fun in that?

Funny business quotes

Whenever you face a hard time running a business or working in a company, try to look at it from a distance. I know it’s hard to stop for a second and appreciate where you actually are, because there’s always something more ahead of you.

But aren’t we all treating our work so seriously that when we think about it it’s almost funny? We should add a little fun to it. There’re other things in life worth being so much serious about. And if your boss doesn’t like that approach? Well, you can always become a pirate. Arrr!!
