Programatically disable input box on widget

Hello folks,

I would like to find out if it is at all possible to programatically enable and disable the use of the input text box in the client widget.

Specifically, I would like to ensure that the client uses buttons/moments only to provide information at certain points of the conversation. This will allow me to ensure that only valid values are submitted and ensure that the conversation does not deviate from the current path.

This is when interacting with a custom Chat Bot.

Is this at all possible without having to extend the chat widget?

Unfortunately, it’s not available for now to achieve this in LC chat widget.
The only way is to build your own chat widget, using our CustomerSDK:

For now we can work without the postback but it might be better for us in the long run to do that.
