I’d like to announce that LiveChat Agent App will remove support for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) effective December 31, 2020. If you want to continue using a Microsoft browser, we recommend Microsoft Edge, which we fully support. We also recommend using our desktop client for Windows for an even better experience; it has all the features of the web application.
How will this affect me?
If you’re using Internet Explorer as your primary browser, you may encounter some problems (mostly visual issues) while using LiveChat. Please keep in mind that we’ll keep fixing critical issues on IE11 until the end of 2020. Starting January 1, 2021, we’ll no longer prioritize fixing compatibility issues with IE11. LiveChat could stop working in IE11 at any time and without notice.
Please note that this depreciation is not affecting the chat widget, which will continue to work with Internet Explorer for now.
Why is LiveChat removing support for IE11?
IE11 hasn’t been actively developed by Microsoft since 2015. The web has moved on. Much new technology, functionality, and security patches have been introduced in modern browsers. We want to utilize those improvements to better the performance and experience of LiveChat. Please update your systems to ensure your team is using LiveChat in a way that we actively support. There’s also a new desktop app for Windows, which we recommend to users of all browsers.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team if you have any questions regarding this transition.
